Still Portraits is the final event of the workshop series Denn ich bin ein Mensch, Nadin Tanriverdi and Özlem Alkis held in eight German cities between July and December 2022. The workshops explored Alevi poetry, spiritual rituals, and practices, focusing on faith, resilience, and ways of navigating experiences of discrimination and collective memories of persecution and oppression. Inspired by the life and work of Alevi poet Aşık Daimi (1932–1983), participants reflected on their own sources of strength and spiritual resilience.

The event features short talks by Alevi thinkers and practitioners, followed by Still Portraits, an experimental film by Nadin Tanriverdi. Through intimate video portraits, the film gives workshop participants a voice and documents their individual spiritual strategies for resilience and survival.
